Lacquerware small plates with Negoro-style finish
Negoro is a traditional Japanese lacquerware style that originated in Buddhist temples during the 14th century.
Its distinctive look comes from layering black lacquer under red lacquer.
With time and use, the surface gradually wears, allowing the black layer to show through the red, creating a beautiful contrast and a sense of depth.
