Wood-fired Shigaraki tea bowl by Kawaguchi Takayuki

A small-sized tea bowl with beautiful rustic tones and a natural burnished sheen. Made from traditional Shigaraki clay, which naturally contains feldspar and small pebbles. During firing, the feldspar can partially melt and “pop” to the surface, creating a unique and textured finish. One such feldspar burst is visible on the front of the bowl (see the first and the last photo), and there is a tight firing crack on the rim (see the second photo).
